Abstract

Deaths related to drugs or toxins represent a sizeable percentage of cases investigated by forensic pathologists. Chapter 11 begins by discussing the investigation, autopsy findings, general toxicology issues, and death certification issues specifically related to drug/toxin deaths. The remainder of the chapter presents many common and some uncommon drugs and toxins which may result in death.
