Abstract
The earlier chapters of this book provide a clear view of the current state of the use of dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in children. The purpose of this chapter is to highlight those areas in which we believe that significant advances in bone densitometry are likely to be forthcoming over the next 5–10 yr. These changes will likely improve the performance of DXA and alternative noninvasive methods of assessing bone health in pediatric subjects.
