Abstract

The focus of this chapter is to examine the role of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) in the management of mediastinal lesions. EUS, owing to its diagnostic accuracy, tissue sampling capability, low morbidity, and time and cost savings has become an integral part of the multidisciplinary approach to the imaging and management of thoracic diseases. It is the intent of this chapter to outline the benefit of EUS as an adjunct to modalities such as bronchoscopy, positron emission tomography (PET), and computed tomography (CT) imaging in the evaluation of mediastinal diseases.
