Abstract
A 63-year-old man complained of attacks of “dizziness” over the past 3 months. He experienced fullness in his right ear, with loss of hearing and a ringing sensation. This was followed by a severe sensation of the room spinning that worsened for about 5 minutes and slowly subsided over about 45–60 minutes. These episodes were usually associated with severe nausea and vomiting, occurring about two to three times a week. Neurological examination showed a normal Rinne’s test with localization of sound to the left ear with Weber’s test performed with a 256 Hz tuning fork.
