Abstract
In this chapter we provide a framework for designing primary and very early screening (secondary-prevention) programs for schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. We also show how a number of alternative approaches can be applied to achieve the goal of reducing the incidence of schizophrenia. The approaches of a broadly population-based vs more targeted prevention program for schizophrenia are contrasted based on current knowledge.
