Abstract

A description of a method for successful preparation of histological slides from previously nonsectionable ceramic or metallic material in bone and soft tissue was published by Donath and Breuner in 1982.2 Further development of instruments that were specifically designed for this method by Biermann (Exakt, Hamburg-Norderstedt, Germany) beginning in 1983 has made it possible for many laboratories throughout the world to easily perform hard-tissue histotechnology.6,8,9
