Abstract
Hereditary cancers account for approximately 10% of the overall cancer burden. As such, colorectal cancer is no different. The most common hereditary colorectal cancers are hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) or the Lynch syndrome and familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). There are, however, other less well-known inherited syndromes for which the colon and rectum are at risk, such as familial juvenile polyposis, Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, and Cowden syndrome.
