Abstract
Spasticity is one of the most common problems faced by rehabilitation physicians. It represents a disorder of upper motor neuron pathways and is often a permanent clinical accompaniment of a variety of illnesses including stroke, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis (MS), spinal-cord injury, and cerebral palsy (CP). It is estimated that spasticity affects approx 6 million people each year (1). Spasticity may disrupt activities of daily living, produce disabling and debilitating pain, and limit the efficacy of physical therapy.
