Abstract
Spasticity often results in biomechanical deficits that can interrupt normal neuromusculoskeletal function. A wide range of therapies, such as those detailed in other sections of this text, can be combined for the management of spasticity and its various clinical presentations. Orthoses are a fundamental component of the rehabilitation process; these can be designed to support, align, correct, or prevent a deformity and restore motion. This chapter is an overview of the basic principles and practices involved with the clinical use of orthoses for management of spasticity.
