Abstract

Urologists and physicians who treat male patients spend a significant percentage of their clinical practice time diagnosing and managing prostate disease. Prostate cancer is the most common malignancy diagnosed in men, and the second most common cause of death by cancer. Benign prostatic hyperplasia clinically affects 50% of men over 50, and half of those require some form of therapy. Is the other significant prostate disease—prostatitis—an important disease in urologie clinical practice?
