Abstract

Despite recent advances in our understanding of the genetics and biology of renal cell carcinoma (RCC), surgery remains the mainstay of curative treatment for this disease. Nevertheless, the role of traditional radical surgery is changing and nephronsparing surgery (NSS) now plays an increasing role in the management of localized tumors.
