Abstract
In any divestiture, the chief information officer (CIO) is under pressure to prevent negative operational and financial outcomes. While segregating corporate systems, untangling infrastructure and applications, and reorganizing operations may provide cost reduction opportunities, third-party information technology (IT) contracts comprise a significant part of cost outlay, and managing them is a critical priority.
