Abstract

Auriculotemporal nerve is a peripheral branch of the mandibular nerve lying in close proximity to the neck of the mandible. It gives sensory supply to the temporal and auricular areas and parasympathetic supply to the parotid gland. It can be at risk of injury during surgeries involving the mandible and parotid gland. Auriculotemporal neuralgia is a condition characterized by unilateral lancinating pain in the temporal and auricular areas. Auriculotemporal nerve block can be done to relief refractory cases. Frey’s syndrome or abnormal gustatory sweating can happen as a consequence of auriculotemporal nerve injury.
