Abstract

Review the indications and clinical and technical aspects of vagal nerve stimulation (VNS) therapy and other neurostimulation devices in drug-resistant epilepsy. This chapter will review the historical aspects, indications, technical aspects, major clinical trials, managing stimulus parameters (programming), and safety and precautions in handling patients treated with VNS.
