Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) surveillance is an important component of modern TB control strategy. This chapter reviews the origin and developing history of TB surveillance and summarizes the main contents, methods, and previous results of routine TB surveillance. In addition, an application of an important supplemental approach to routine surveillance called the prevalence survey is discussed. We conclude with future prospects of TB surveillance development.
