Abstract

Bronchoscopy is a clinical technique involving the insertion of a flexible tube into the bronchus which allows medical professionals to inspect, diagnose, and treat lesions associated with tuberculosis (TB), as well as makes interventions such as drug delivery, sputum aspiration, and excisions possible. The diagnostic techniques include biopsy, brushing, washing, and lavage. Interventional therapies by bronchoscopy include cryotherapy, balloon dilation, argon plasma coagulation, and expansion therapy. The most common complications of bronchoscopy are bleeding, anesthetic drug allergies, laryngeal spasm, and hypertensive crisis. Because bronchoscopy is an interventional operation, diagnosis and therapy via bronchoscopy should be more in line with ethical requirements and health economics.
