Abstract

Laparoscopic surgery and less invasive techniques have changed surgery by decreasing incision size, leading to the concept of laparoendoscopic single-site surgery (LESS). LESS has the potential to improve laparoscopic outcomes when compared to some open procedures, decreasing morbidity, pain, and postsurgical cosmetic issues.

Although LESS has been a popular technique, there is room for improvements in laparoscopic instrumentation, surgical platforms, and visualization technology. The enthusiasm for LESS surgery is evident within the surgical community, especially in urologists that perform renal laparoscopic surgery. We will describe our LESS radical nephrectomy technique in this chapter.
