Abstract
Sexual function is an essential component of physical and psychological well-being and should be addressed as such in the clinical setting. Because the many facets of sexuality can be influenced by other physical and mental health issues, sexual concerns should be approached as genuine medical problems.
Men may present with one symptom of sexual concern, but after thoughtful interview and evaluation, the symptom may be attributed to a different primary sexual dysfunction or separate health problem. This chapter addresses specific sexual complaints: loss of libido, erectile dysfunction, and disorders of ejaculation in the context of psychosocial factors and the clinical setting.
The final section briefly addresses nonpharmacological interventions as well as prescribed therapies.
The most important message in this chapter is “just ask!”
