Abstract

Atrial fibrillation is a very rare arrhythmia in the young. It presents either as paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in adolescents or, even more rarely, as a genetic mutation in the KCNQ1 channel. Familial atrial fibrillation has also been involved in nine different genetic defects. Potential therapeutic options discussed.
