Abstract
A resident seeks help from you with a survey he wants to send out to all the medical residents in training programs in the Western United States. The survey relates to working conditions, housing, research time, study time, travel to and from hospitals etc.
There is no doubt that surveys are becoming increasingly used in our personal and professional lives. But many times the conclusion from the survey may be questionable.
What are the facts that you must keep in mind when advising someone on how to construct a survey?
