Abstract

The embryologic development of the exocrine, endocrine, and ductal elements of the pancreas are detailed in this chapter. Emphasis is given to the different tumors in relation to their embryologic origin. Pancreatic pseudocysts are discussed in detail, correlating their development and presentation with the anatomical features of the lesser sac. The indications and key surgical maneuvers of pancreaticoduodenectomy are covered.
