Abstract

Satellites provide a superb vantage point for viewing our world. This is done through the technology of remote sensing, or collecting information at a distance. Remote sensing is done by the gathering and analysis of electromagnetic (EM) energy, and by analyzing the interaction of such energy with a target such as the surface of Earth. This can be done from a variety of orbits and can provide many different types of useful information in a disaster.
