Abstract
In ancient China, Confucius praised the old remedies, good advice today as we rush to embrace the latest therapeutic innovations. And later, in tenth-century Persia, Rhazes described the importance of natural vitality in healing. Surgeon William Halsted wrote of the role of confidence at the operating table, essential to the successful surgeon, while on the medical side, Fuller Albright underscored the need to understand the fundamentals of any therapy employed.
