Abstract

Vascular and endovascular complications encompass a wide range of conditions with vessel injury and infection being common areas for surgical intervention. This chapter describes the treatment strategies for several important vascular and endovascular complications including: hemorrhage in the retroperitoneum, neck, and groin; pseudoaneurysms; aortoenteric fistulae; and infected lower extremity bypass grafts. Although primary management principles of Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and infection control still apply, advances in endovascular therapy have introduced new treatment options for the conditions addressed in this chapter.
