Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 766))

Abstract

This review covers form and function in the major organ systems of the Digenea with emphasis on the literature from 1997 to 2012. The literature on this topic prior to 1997 has been well covered in earlier reviews mentioned in our chapter. We cover form and function in both adult and larval digeneans with emphasis on the tegumentary, sensory, neuromuscular, alimentary, reproductive, respiratory, and excretory systems. Mention of drug treatment as related to form and function of digeneans is also covered.
