Abstract
Puberty represents the transition from childhood to reproductive maturity. This process is unique in humans and has been a subject of great interest for many years. We now know that there are many factors that contribute to normal and pathologic pubertal development. Some of the history and trends pertaining to pubertal development over time are outlined in this chapter.
