Abstract
A history of civilian trauma systems is reviewed, as well as modern evidence supporting improved outcomes. Various trauma systems in place globally are compared for similarities and differences. The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma certification standards are reviewed in detail, specifically as they relate to Anesthesiology departments, operating room, and recovery room requirements.
