Abstract
This section covers the different types of ventral hernias including the umbilical hernia, epigastric hernia, Spigelian hernia, and incisional hernia. The technique of both open and laparoscopic ventral hernia repair is discussed, as are the most common postoperative complications. A classic case of an incisional hernia as a result of a wound infection is described, and questions are provided for review.
