Abstract

This section covers the major indications for creating access for enteral nutrition. The technique of a surgical gastrostomy tube and jejunostomy tube are described in detail, as are the most common postoperative complications of these operations, including tube dislodgement. A classic case of a patient requiring enteral nutrition is described, and questions are provided for review.
