Abstract
This chapter discusses the controversy relating to arguments in the field for and against the use of sign language versus aided AAC with individuals with ASD. The chapter provides a review of the characteristics that might indicate if an individual would be better suited to one than the other. A review of the research is provided, indicating comparisons between the techniques.
