Abstract
Most people prefer to spend more time creating slides than deciding what they are going to say about those slides. In fact, often they spend so much time preparing the slides that they have little or no time to think about the accompanying speech. This usually has disastrous consequences.
It makes far more sense to carefully plan (and practise) what you are going to say, before you prepare the slides. This means that you can avoid wasting time preparing unnecessary slides. your slides should reflect what you want to say. Your slides should not control what it is you will say.
