Abstract
Homeopaths have been politically influential in several countries. Among the best known are Royal Copeland and Jacob Gallinger. Both promoted health causes in the US Senate over the course of several decades, and Copeland amassed an impressive track record in ophthalmic surgery, medical school administration, public health, use of the media to popularize medicine, and legislation to promote drug safety. The political contributions of Jesse Dickson Mabon are also described. The homeopaths Susan Edson, Charles Sawyer, and Joel Boone served as personal physicians to US presidents, while Willis Danforth ministered to the widow of President Abraham Lincoln. Sir John Weir was physician to seven British, Swedish, and Norwegian monarchs.
