Abstract
Life is by its nature stressful, and this emphasizes the importance of Hardiness, which is the pattern of attitudes and strategies that help one to turn stresses from potential disasters into growth opportunities instead. This chapter summarizes the conceptualization, research, assessment, training, and practice of Hardiness. This summary shows that Hardiness is positively related to a sense of meaningfulness, and enhances performance and health. Hardiness is also negatively related to depression and anxiety.
