Abstract
Healthcare professionals who care for athletes will find the following chapter useful as a detailed discussion of the comprehensive evaluation of the foot and ankle. The professional will learn how to develop consistent history taking and exam skills in order to determine appropriate treatment and return to play decisions. A thorough discussion of the palpable anatomy and special testing will be reviewed. The professional who cares for athletes at all levels of competition must have a thorough understanding of anatomy, excellent palpatory skills and knowledge of the sports, and the forces and positions that the athlete will be expected to endure for safe participation.
