Abstract

In the previous chapter, we showed how important stability is for proving convergence of difference schemes. This chapter is devoted to proving stability of difference schemes. This is done largely by introducing tools that can be used to prove stability of difference schemes, such as the discrete Fourier transform, the Gerschgorin Circle Theorem and an assortment of basic propositions.
