Abstract
Although this chapter title refers only to ‘conference’ attendance, the term should be regarded as also referring to attending study days, seminars and other similar events. It also refers to ‘workshops’, a specialized form of conference which Stevens (1977) described as a concentrated group educational experience with its own unique characteristics. That writer gave an excellent account of how to organize and participate in a successful workshop.
