Abstract

The last chapter discussed soil models describing behaviour caused by one-dimensional changes in normal stress. In this chapter, we will consider a very simple soil model describing the behaviour of soil subjected to shear. Before examining this model, however, it will be useful to have a general understanding of the way in which real soils are found to behave.
