Abstract
Remarkable changes in development take place during the preschool years. This has been well described by Laszlo and Bairstow (1985), ‘There is a process of progressively building on what has already been established, a development of knowledge of relationships between sensory and motor events within and across time, and a progressive differentiation and accretion of knowledge that is achieved through action, and this knowledge in turn modifies behaviour.’ (p. 43).
