Abstract
With the necessary professional framework in place (UKCC, 1990) it is possible to construct a model which will provide clinical supervision throughout our working lives as nurses. Given that certain preconditions are present and that sufficient time is given to allow supervision to grow, then there is no reason why this important activity could not take stronger root in nursing. This chapter provides a composite view of four elements which are central to the provision of a model of’ supervision for life’. These are some ground rules, potential methods, room for growth and support and a composite model.
