Abstract
The great majority of business enterprises exist by selling some product, be it goods or services. As a general rule it is in the best interests of the business, and also its employees, to secure as large a share of the potential market as possible, whilst at the same time keeping costs to a minimum. This aim can be aided by the elimination of competition, preferably lawfully. One way to achieve this is for the business to protect those products which are lawfully theirs to exploit.
