Abstract
This chapter essentially supports the explanation of the systemic approach to problem solving that we shall look at in Chapter 12. Although we are now about to look at problem situations as systems, we should not forget the importance of creativity in any problem solving situation. ‘since creative thought is the most important thing that makes people different from monkeys, it should be treated as a commodity more precious than gold and preserved with great care’ (Hall, 1962).
