Abstract

All educational activities are underpinned by certain philosophical beliefs about the nature of education. This chapter explores two approaches to education and offers a practical example of one approach in action. In discussing the broad principles behind the experiential learning approach and considering the work of adult educators, the reader will be able to make considerations about how to plan workshop and course programmes with, rather than for, the participants. The chapter paves the way towards a discussion of the specific skills of the facilitation of experiential workshops for interpersonal skills training.
