Abstract

There are no exact figures available for the incidence of juvenile chronic arthritis, but it is probably the most common of the connective disorders seen in childhood. It is seen in all countries of the world, and is thought probably to have an incidence similar to that of diabetes in childhood, i.e. around 2 children in every 1000 suffering from the disease. So whilst it is not a particularly common disease, affected children will need much monitoring and care.
