Abstract
There are a number of types of eczema, varying in classification. ‘Contact’ eczema or dermatitis is a good example of an eczematous condition in which there is a definite correlation between cause and subsequent effect. An example of this is the eczema which can occur in some people on contact with certain metals — the nickel used in jewellery, scissors or cooking utensils — or the rubber preservative chemicals used in rubber gloves.
