Abstract

In this chapter, we give some striking generalizations of the Kodaira Vanishing Theorem with an arithmetical flavor due to Ramanujam [1],[2], Kawamata [2], and Viehweg [1]. We also give some additional characterizations of ampleness and state some vanishing theorems of Mumford [1] and Grauert-Riemenschneider [1] on singular spaces. We begin with the following generalization of Corollary (2.22) due to Ramanujam [1, Theorem 3].
