Abstract
Chromatography is a method of separation based on differential migration. The separation of mixtures into individual components depends upon the differential sorption of the components by an active stationary phase. Migration through the stationary phase is produced by a driving force—the flow of a usually nonselective, mobile fluid phase. In gas—liquid chromatography one is concerned with that major subdivision of chromatography in which the mobile phase is an inert gas.
