Abstract
Following resection or exclusion of the oesophagus, it may be necessary to reconstitute upper digestive continuity away from the normal anatomical oesophageal route. Extra-anatomical reconstruction in patients with cancer avoids the problem of local recurrence leading to obstruction of the interposed organ.
