Abstract

The differences in the adhesive forces of powders are used in a recently developed method of beneficiating (enriching) free-running material: the so-called triboelectric-adhesion or triboad-hesion method [421, 422, 423]. The arrangement of the apparatus for the triboadhesive enrichment of minerals is shown in Fig. IX. 1. The original material is fed from the bunker 1 via a trough 5 onto the drum 7. As the particles move they rub against the bottom of the trough and against each other and acquire a charge. Those powder particles which increase their adhesive force as a result of the charge so acquired, so that the force becomes greater than the centrifugal force in the system (the gravitational forces may be neglected), remain on the drum until they are removed from the latter by the brush 8 and collected in the receiver 9. The rest of the particles fall into receiver 10.
