Abstract

Gymnasts, divers, acrobats, and ballet dancers throw their weight around, dramatizing, sometimes to the point of danger, a capacity to use the body’s momentum. Perhaps we admire them in part because our ordinary movements share their play with weight—because sitting down in a chair also tosses the body through space.

Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: For the end of that man is peace.
