Abstract
Nearly one half of 147 adults who were interviewed in Bristol, England, recalled experiencing a “lump” in the throat. This particular sensation accounts for 3 percent of consultations to throat specialists. Indeed, it may be a normal sensation that is experienced by almost everybody at sometime in his or her life.
The Globus hystericus is a spasmodic affection, sometimes appearing wholly in the pharynx.
